One of my favourite things about elementary school was being able to go up to the chalkboard, and use the different pieces of chalk to write or draw. The one thing I didn’t love however was how the chalk always snapped in my fingers (seriously.. I was 6, I shouldn’t have been strong enough to break it!), and left dust all over my hands, clothes, and somehow in my mouth. When Chalkola reached out to me asking me to test out their chalk markers I was STOKED. Seriously – I didn’t even realize how much I missed the look of chalk until I started looking into their products! I’m going to walk through my experience using these Chalkola markers, link to a fun giveaway where you snag your own, and keep your eyes peeled at the end for a special discount code you can use to buy your own if you just can’t wait.

P.S. Chalkola sent me these markers free of charge to review, however I’m not required to write a positive review and I wouldn’t ever promote something I wouldn’t spend my own money on. I got your back!

Chalkola Marker Review

The folks over at Chalkola were more than kind when I couldn’t make up my mind on one product, and sent me 3 to test out! I received their Rustic Chalkboard Sign, Metallic Chalk Markers, and White Chalk Markers.

Their products are shipped through Amazon, and they were delivered to my door really fast. The packaging is simple and everything came in great condition.

First Impressions

You have to shake each chalk marker for about 60 seconds and then tap the tip onto your surface to get the ink flowing. It took longer than I thought it would to get ink out, but I’ve also never used chalk markers before this so I might have had unrealistic expectations. However the nice thing is once you do this initially you don’t have to do it again!

I used the white markers first and I was honestly shocked at the pigment! I feel like the photo doesn’t do it just. The contrast of the white chalk marker against the black of the chalkboard was just *chef kiss* perfection.

I also of course had to test out the metallic markers! I wasn’t sure how pigmented the colours would be, but I found they were a true metallic (as you can see in the photo below).

You’re probably wondering what this giveaway is – I’m running a giveaway over on my Instagram from today (Tuesday January 14 2020) until Friday January 17th 2020. We’re giving away a set of the metallic markers so you can try them for yourself!

I was a little bit worried when I wanted to erase the chalkboard and try something else. I thought it may smudge or stain but that wasn’t the case at all. I grabbed a damp paper towel and simply wiped the marker right off. It didn’t leave any residue and the chalkboard looked as good as new.

Final Thoughts

I was pleasantly surprised testing out these markers! All the colours that I tried worked wonderfully, and the colour quality truly impressed me. One awesome thing about these markers is that you don’t have to use them on just a chalkboard. They can be used on glass, whiteboards, metal, ceramics, plastics and more. Apparently you can also use them on paper but they just won’t wipe clean, like they would on a non-porous surface. I personally can’t wait to test out these markers on other surfaces!

I also want you to have a chance to test these markers and products.. You can snag 10% off Chalkola products of your choice HERE, with code CHALKOLA10. I’d love to hear your thoughts on these markers, and what you’re going to create! Let me know below in the comments!
